Fidelity to the Source Material
I should be blogging about whether the Graham detainee amendments are constitutional or not (probably not, is my feeling, but it's a closer question than it might at first appear), but I have far too much work, so I give you this instead:
From an interview about a forthcoming video game take on the Lord of the Rings:
"Tom [Bombadil]'s role in the books is the hero who shows up when the hobbits are in trouble and casts out whatever danger they are in, all the while singing and being merry. He plays the same role in our game. Once you summon him, he can pretty much destroy everything in his path, and he sings and dances along the way.
Edit: alternate title: "Bright blue my jacket is, and my boots are yellow, bitch!"

The Onion on "Metal Hand Sign Abuse"
Seriously, it's an epidemic. I was at a Mountain Goats show last week, and this guy next to me was just throwing up der hornen like every thirty seconds through the entire show. The Mountain Goats are significantly more metal than most acoustic-guitar based acts (viz, The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton), but still. The stripped-down whisper-vocal love songs don't really benefit, y'know?
